Safety Lock - Check user manual

Featured Replies

I’ve recently changed cars from a 2007 Skoda Roomster Tdi to a 2013 Skoda Yeti Elegance 1.6.  I noticed when I switch the ignition off that on the display it shows the sign Safety Lock - See Users Manual.  I’ve read the damned users manual back to front and even got my husband to look through it in case i’d got bored and skipped the relevant part but neither one of us could find anything about this display message.  I’ve tried the doors to make sure they’re locked and they are and wondered if this is connected to child safety or whether I’ve accidentally done something with the radio remote.  The car only had one owner prior to me and was described as one previous lady owner.  It has a full service history etc and other than this display message it’s a great car, smooth drive and I think it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned even though I’ve only had it a week!  Rather than take the car back to the place I bought it as they aren’t a Skoda dealer, I thought I’d ask the knowledgeable Yeti owners on here first!

The safety lock is a warning that when you get out of the car and lock the doors the deadlock will also activate.

This means that anybody still in the car cannot open the door from the inside. It deadlocks the inside door handles.

If you press the key fob lock a second time then it leaves the doors locked but not deadlocked.

Hope this helps.

Nothing to worry about; I think it's universal.  Just a reminder about tha automatic deadlocking if children, pets etc left in the car

From the Owners Manual.

Okay cool.  I always worry when I buy second hand and the dealer isn’t tied to that particular model.  I’ll probably get my normal garage to give it a quick once over in the next few weeks so if there’s any problems flagged I can take it back while it’s still under warranty. Thanks, you guys never disappoint!! :-D

The information about safelock is not under that heading in my user manual which is why I was a bit confused.  Thanks for the info though at least I know what it’s now referring to!

Well I've had mine for 4 years and was ignorant to how that worked until I read this thread.

All I need to work out now is the operation of the alarm button thing on the pillar by the drivers; door and I'll have this Yeti sussed!

In mine it's under the heading "Unlocking and opening"

When getting out press the button and it will disable the interior alarm monitoring and towing protection (when car is lifted) for one time when you lock the car so animals inside will not set alarm off.
That can also be achieved by pressing the lock button on the fob twice within 2 seconds when locking.

The B pillar button can also be used when on board ferries to stop the motion sensor setting off the alarm.
