Skoda rapid cigarette socket power

Featured Replies

Hi! I have a 2015 skoda rapid spaceback with 1.2 tsi engine. I bought a dash cam which i want to use in my car, but the cigarette socket is always powered and I don't want to drain the battery. I've heard that you can switch one fuse from one position to another to turn the socket off when the car isn't running in some cars. Does the rapid have that option too?

No.

You would be far better off hardwiring in a second socket off the fusebox and hiding it behind the dashboard. Many of us have done it (it's dead easy and cheap to do) in order to hardwire and power dash cams, sat navs and Wi-Fi hotspots.

Just use a piggy back fuse on the rear wiper fuse (which is a 12v switched live). There's a screw under the right hand side of the fuze box that can be used for earth.

Do a search on my posts for my wiring pic.

Which one is the rear wiper fuse?

Can't remember the exact fuse number off the top of my head, but it's all documented in your manual  - there's a complete listing of which fuse controls which function.
