Strange goings on at Blade Skoda

Featured Replies

For want of a better place to put this I'll it here as it refers to my car that is an Octavia.

I got a letter today from Blade with "GOOD NEWS..!!" In large type at the header. They want me to call them and they are adiment it is not a circular.

Now call me Mr Cynical but anything titled Good News with two exclamation marks has got to be anything but good news. Any idea what is may be? I can't call them until Friday and now I am worried.

I though it might be something to offer me a new car deal but it's only been 15 month.

I'd bet it's January and poor sales figures so going through databases of customers.

Lets have a Sweep stake.

My guess.

They have customers that want a car just like yours and can offer you good deal on your replacement.

Hmm... some else had Good News from their dealer too... you lucky lucky people...

Would upgrading to a 245 seems like an idea if it is that. I've currently got the pre-facelift 230.

Is your car on a PCP?  Dealers track your settlement against the value of your car and when they suspect you may have a bit of equity in your car you’re fair game.  You could be in an brand new car and paying the same or even less (albeit paying for a more prolonged period)!

Will do!

Last time I was in Blade they had replaced all the staff I knew with kids so I'll be going elsewhere for my next car.

I had then same letter from Blade Gloucester ..... I sold my Fabia almost 3 months ago :-) + My friend also got the same latter from them! Obviously desperate to get there numbers up lol

I'm at the dealership and have been directed to the sales department.

This will be a complete waste of your time no doubt...

What were you hoping for before you went to visit them?

Being a bit of a ‘petrol head’ I do often treat communication like this from dealers as a ‘free pass’ to go and do some guilt free tyre kicking!

I too did use it as an excuse to mooch about the new stuff. The Kodiak is really really nice.

Anyways, it was indeed a complete waste of time as it turned out to just be an excuse to talk to me about new deals. Also if I wanted to renew for a newer model I'd have to pay through the nose it seems.

I honestly can say I wasn't expecting too much but the spirit of curiosity took me to investigate.

Nice opportunity for a bit of tyre-kicking, but my experience buying my new Superb has taught me never to go into a dealer without having got some offers from a broker first. Otherwise, the dealer is assuming they don’t need to offer you those kind of discounts.
