Switching from VXR

Featured Replies

Currently own a Corsa VXR and have had it for the last 3 years- tuned to stage 3 (230bhp) and a great, fun little car to drive... however was doing some online window shopping and came across a 2013 Octavia VRS with DSG and went for a test drive today... what a car.. Incredible build quality, lots of toys and gadgets for the price and it's pretty quick.. My Corsa feels quicker in the lower gears but on the motorway the Octavia is so planted and picks up quick.

So I've reserved the Octavia, going over final figures and hopefully have a decision tomorrow.  Just thought I'd sign up and have a browse!

One question I do have- I seen a stage 1 Revo map can see it to ~300BHP without any supporting hardware (which btw is ridiculous for just a map!) .. are the engines good for this or is it recommended to change any hardware, whether it's even just the air filter or anything?

Thanks in advance! :D

Revo and other firms do similar stage 1 maps, just had it done and worth it.

300bhp.. I'd say that's more than worth it haha.  Found that APR and other similar places do it like you say- glad to hear it's worthwhile.  Was it as simple as just the remap?

Yes. More than stage 1 and mods are required. For my purposes a Shark map is very smooth in the 290+ Bhp bracket and about 25-30% more torque. I ensure I am in the right gear as I don't want to fry the clutch and the road is dry  before I hit the gas.  From 2000--3000 rpm it builds very quickly and keeps on pulling right to the red line at 6500 rpm

Took the plunge! Traded in my VXR and picked up the VRS on Thursday.. what a car, completely overwhelmed with it and no regrets!

Has so many goodies on the car I'm still discovering bits here and there.. the dealer didn't have the complete spec list.. any ideas how to go about finding that out?

Had time today for a bit of polishing and sealing..

Hello!

Looks very nice indeed! Deep colours like that seem to suit Skodas ;)

For the spec list, there should be a sticker by the spare wheel well in the boot and also inside the front cover over of the service booklet I believe. You can look them up somewhere like this site: http://vag-codes.info/vag-option-codes

You might also want to check out the model-specific section of the site for your Mk3 Octy if you've not already :speechless:

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for the info Steve, I'll check that out! .. been prowling around the MK3 section for a while now stealing some ideas!

If you want the spec, you can go on the online Skoda Customer Service Chat (http://www.skoda.co.uk/about-us/contact-us) and ask them to lookup the build spec. That's what I did last week, took less than 5 minutes :)
