VAG 4x4 Haldex error codes and odb2 readers

Featured Replies

I recently found out my 4x4 Yeti has only been 2 wheel drive. The Haldex oil and filter had not been changed (even though main dealer serviced for the past 6 years).. that was clogged up and that had blow the pump. There was no warning lights on the dashboard.. it simple just was 2x2.. it took a gravel hill to find it out.

My question.. would Haldex fault codes come through to a ODB2 readers as a error code? Or would I have needed a VAG specific reader.

Many thanks

Martin

Many OBD2 readers only report engine management faults, IMHO VCDS is your best bet for fully reporting any problems on VAG vehicles.

Does it specifically state on your vehicles service history that it was carried out, as the Haldex oil change is not part of the Minor or Major service regime, you have to request it, even then they don't touch the filter as they will say there is none present.

It should be done every 3 years and/or 37k miles, whatever it reaches first.
