I've had my ex-demo 280 Sportline hatch for a couple of weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. Mind you, I nearly didn't buy it as on the test drive my first impression was that the handling was barge like and 'wallowy'. The car doesn't have DCC and my previous car was a very early Octavia 3 vRS DSG Estate whose handling and suspension damping i thought was spot on. However, I was hooked by the Superb's awd and the fact that it takes off like a scalded cat from junctions even on greasy winter roads without even a hint of wheelspin, unlike the vRS.

Anyway, I digress. The only annoyance I can find so far is that the windscreen washer motor is really noisy and intrusive at low speeds. I appreciate that it must be mounted near the bulkhead somewhere but, sheesh, when I hear that noise I'm immediately snapped out of my 'cocoon of luxury' and transported right back to the rubbish cars of the 80/90's I owned when I was impecunious. Is this  noise normal? Is anyone else bothered by it or is it just me?

You can certainly hear mine, but I’ve never thought of it as being obtrusive. But now you mention it, it is fairly loud!

i don't even notice the washer pumps when mine is on, and i definately don't hear it at all if i have the music on.

i have a 220 dsg.
