Connector in engine bay

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Can anyone identify what this connector is for and whether it should be connected? Went to top my screenwash up and noticed it was unplugged. Not noticed any issues so querying if it's normal for it to be unplugged? 2.0 TSI on a 63 plate.

Thanks,

Looks like to me it should be on the end of that sensor near the tail of the arrow you drew?, cable looks about the right length for it?

Thanks Trev, yeah it looks like it will plug into that one. Not sure if it should be plugged in though, or whether it was unplugged for a reason? I haven't noticed any issues and don't want to cause any by plugging it in.

Does anyone know what that sensor is?

+1 for AstonBodgers comments.

No cable should ever be "unplugged" as the metal connections will corrode if not sealed.

If its not needed, VAG/Skoda would probably delete it to save money.

does your bonnet show open in the maxidot?

No nothing unexpected has shown. Is that what the connector/sensor is for?

Will plug it in, thanks all!

i think it is the wiring for the bonnet switch

Think you are right, thanks. Plugged it back in with the bonnet left open and MFD showed it as open. Don't think I've ever seen the MFD show bonnet open so must have been unplugged for ages.

Cheers

Your shout was also spot on about it going on the connector by the arrow.

Thanks both!

Is that plug position where it has always been or did you put it there to get a better photo of it? If it had naturally fallen out of the connector it would never have ended up there.

Yeah it was just dangling loose, pointing towards the floor originally.
