Couple of questions

Featured Replies

Hey guys, been playing with the car (vRS230) since yesterday and its missing a couple of options I thought were standard. can someone correct me:

  1. I thought autodip on the headlights was standard on full led headlights but I can't find it anywhere and the little A isn't in the full beam symbol?
  2. I thought it had hill hold (or at least assist), but it started rolling back this morning when I took the brakes off to test it?
  3. Do they all have traffic sign recognition? can't seem to be able to turn it on!
  4. Can't seem to get an internet connection out of it to register Skoda connect (I didn't even realise it had a wifi hotspot til after i bought it and i double checked with the sales man its free for the first year) - what am i doing wrong.

Admittedly i AM impatient and i haven't had a lot of time to play with it all (wife hasn't even driven it yet) but i swear this is the first time I've had to ask for help, I've been in IT and engineering since I left uni for flips sake!!

1. High Beam Assist is an option although, it can be activated by VCDS

2. Should have hill hold, only last a couple of seconds though

3.  Traffic Sign Recognition is like HBA an option although can be activate by VCDS

4. Sorry can't help with this one

ok cool thanks.

I'm not bothered by having them or not, but I may buy VCDS to play with it!

4.  The car requires some sort of internet connection (I.e. it’s own SIM or using a hotspot via a phone) to work. It’s not ‘connected to the internet’ straight out the box.

Edit: Sorry. Just seen you’ve got the answer in another thread.

Yeah that's whats confusing, Whats the point saying it's a 'wifi hotspot' and saying you get the Skoda connect service (which i assumed to be something useful, like a data conection...) free for a year, when you can't go anywhere once connected. Donald trump would call that fake news!

Either way, really impressed with the car so far and if I have to hot spot IT to my PHONE and not the other way around so be it! its not like i'll be using all the online services much anyway. I've never used them in my other car in 2.5 years of ownership!

Also this thread on Skoda connect.

Doesn't HBA and TSR require sensors and radars in bumpers and on windscreen? If you don't have the sensors on the screen I can't see how VCDS can activate it. Its a hardware and software combo. And I'm pretty sure none of those options are standard on VRS but options, so unless you option it the windscreen won't have the required hardware installed to activate by VCDS.

The lane assist camera in the windscreen that is standard on the vRS will also do HBA and TSR.

What she said

I have a VRS and no lane assist - no camera at all on windscreen, only rain sensor.

But I'm in Ireland, maybe different spec for "Standard" - but its an optional extra here. Probably changes from region to region.

Mine is middle of 2016 , but its still an option here.

My apologies, it’s standard on all UK vRSes, unlike cruise control, which only became standard after MY14 along with the flat bottom wheel.

I think we are lucky over here to get Alloy Wheels as standard :-) - everything else you pay extra, and its not as if the car is even cheaper to begin with. Bloomin VRT in this country is outrageous. But Lane Assist as standard is amazing! No wonder so many people here import their cars from UK market.

It is, but then for MY14 you don’t get nav as standard but you did on the Elegance. They fixed that for MY15 though :)
