Skoda Octavia 2014 aftermarket Android head unit fitting

Featured Replies

Hi guys I would like to get some help from some of the experienced Skoda owners. I have bought an Android head unit to go in my Skoda Octavia 2014 to replace the original one

I have purchased this one from eBay as it showed up compatible with my Octavia 2014

As I got in touch with the technician who is coming to fit it in it's telling me that it will not fit in as my media unit is in the glove box and the screen is just a screen in the middle. I'm not bothered about getting my car data displayed on the main screen like mileage and MPG and Range and everything I just want this unit to fit in and if it can play media then that's all I want please let me know if it is possible or advise me of the right one if not I am attaching some photos of the headunit I have purchased

yeah you got the correct one. you need to use the connectors that came with the head unit to attach to the plugs from the rear of the unit in the glove compartment. effectively the dvd player becomes redundant.  You still have all the maxidot/steering wheel canbus functions too.

the trickiest job is placement of the antenna for gps and dab. looks like you got the one with built in wifi antenna

Thank you very much for your reply mate that has helped me a lot and relieved a bit of stress I was having for the last 3-4 hours. I was only confused because the guy who was trying to fit it in on coming Monday said that it is not compatible which I thought was a bit strange as it's compatibility was Verified by the owner and manufacturer thank you very much for helping me it has got a built-in Wi-Fi antenna and I'm going to ride the GPS antenna to the glove box onto the side of the dash and the mic on my right hand side I do not have the dab adapter and to be honest with you do not know which one to buy but I'm not fussed about that once again thank you very much for your help.

Hi Shoji147...

Did you ever get this Android unit working properly? I was looking at the exact same unit for my 2015 VRS Mk3 but have really struggled to find someone who's given it a go.

Are you able to post any pics of it fitted in your car ??

Thanks!

Paul

No mate I haven't been able to make it work and the seller I bought it from is completely useless and to be honest I will not recommend this head unit especially with the car which has got start stop technology it will be a pain to make it work

thats a shame as it looks really good...

what exactely isnt working? and you can permanently disable the start stop, (its a bit of a gimmick anyway). im assuming the radio is switched to the ignition and its turning off when your start stop kicks in?

Hello guys. I very nearly bought this same headunit recently, but no one can confirm whether the unit works and is compatible with Aircon controls, vRS mode button, maxidot screen etc. If this connects easily then I'm after one but the above replies have concerned me! My car is an MIB1 Amundsen 2015 vRS . Anyone shed any light?

i dont know anyone who has one fitted and working im toying with the idea but im in the same boat as you, the next best thing will cost £900 ish all in for a 9"screen MIB2 unit and decoding. one of the members on here sells the package i think? sasha is the expert on this as she has successfully upgraded from a MIB1 bolero

The headunit turns off and reboots everytime start stop kicks in. Dont know how to disable that and also the annoying radio is always on on home screen cant do nothing about it. Also when u turn to 100 fm it shuts and reboots. Firmware issue but when sent to the seller he sent back saying it was all okay.

About 200 pounfs down the drain unless someone here can guide me about start stop.

Also how can i keep android unit on when i switch engine off. Its annoying when u switch engine off and it shuts and then upon start takes time to boot.

I want it to keep working when i m stopped with engine off but key in ignition just like the original unit.
