Just bought a Fabia few problems

Bought a Skoda fabia 1.4 elegance and been having a few problems. Got the car really really cheap due to ABS light being on and a flashing hand brake light whilst the car is stationary and in motion. Another problem is the fact the passenger side window will only go down from drivers side and from the passenger side will only go up lol. Any help will be appreciated thank you.

Best go to see a mechanic then, because the last owner never got it sorted.

If it was a simple fix would they not have had it done rather than punting cheaply.

Brake Service / check / inspection needed, ABS sensor maybe.   Easier to find out after looking.

Has had recent pads and disks, car runs and drives fine and stop fine as well!

What year is the car?

For ABS light check the strip fuses in the fuseholder on top of the battery as a first step. Often a quick/easy fix, and very common failure.

For handbrake light check wiring to handbrake switch under centre console, and check switch operation while in there. If that's all OK check wiring to brake fluid reservoir.

Strip fuse No. 6 (right hand one as you look from the front of the car) is the one for the ABS in your car. Have a close look at it, because they crack rather than melt, due to mechanical vibration I think, so it can be hard to see.

Looks like it.

Part number is N10424902, should be available at any VAG-group dealership, or TPS.

Motor factors shops may have something equivalent. It's 40 Amp rated.

A few on ebay at not too ridiculous prices, if you're not in too much of a hurry; https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_osacat=0&_odkw=N+10424902&_from=R40&_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XN10424902.TRS0&_nkw=N10424902&_sacat=0

Aright mate, went Halfords replaced the cracked wire fuse, turned car on and was still showing faults as listed; did a battery reset, took the Positive off the battery for bout 30 seconds, turned car on same issue.

You need to drive it a short distance (yards only) after replacing the fuse before the ABS warning goes away, have you done that?

Just took it for a spin, handbrake light which was flashing earlier has gone off, but the traction and ABS are still on. Any ideas?

Check whether the battery light comes on with ignition, before you start the engine.

Which 1.4 engine is it by the way; diesel or petrol? If petrol, MPI or 16V?

1.4 16V Pal, battery light does come on with the ignition.

Possibly a wheel speed sensor giving dodgy readings then.

Saw a post on another forum recently where a dustcover on the driveshaft had been distorted by rust and worn away at the ABS sensor to the point it stopped working, so maybe give the front ones a visual inspection, as well as scanning with VCDS when you can.

They can be difficult to remove though, the hole rusts around them and jams them in sometimes.

Have you tried pressing the ASR button on the dash? If you press it to disable it that puts the ABS light on in ours.

Hi mate, thanks for your help however ASR button is useless doesn't seem to do anything. ABS and TCS light however are still on.
