Have done, don't usually. I too, had the Tesco deal for that and petrol, for a Yaris. No discernible difference but worth a shot. (Or two)!

I have also used Cataclean when I got a good deal with Carparts4less. I prefer that to premium fuels. go the proper diesel version, though as its better.

a thought just occurred to me...these items are for catalytic convertors and dpf's....?

i checked my handbook and it appears my model and year doesnt have a dpf...!!!

i looked up the codes on the vehicle data in my service schedule

according to the owners manual a diesel particulate filter if fitted should have 7GG at the bottom of the second row from left

mine has OGG...which i take it means zero GG...no dpf..

i dont doubt this even though a skoda agent looking up his database said i did...in response to that fan thing...running on...saying it was the dpf regenerating....

(ps i am not being smart here just clearing away the situation so i dont spend any cash on dpf cleaning additives)

so

am i silly in even thinking these products are any good and the shell v power diesel is really for cleaning injectors and increased power...if it works that is....i am using it satisfactorily but havent really tried an other brand...or the shell normal diesel for that matter..i do fancy keeping the injectors clean by using the cleaner in the fuel and any benefit from increased mpg really...power is something i dont think my  59Kw 1.4 Tdi was created for...maybe now and again in traffic using the turbo...usually i drive high vacuum for high mpg....i think this has been talked about many times on the forum

any thoughts there old chap?

I think its meant to clean the whole system so it should suffice. It was recommended in a driving instructor publication, with a discount code for instructors but I found it at CP4L and ECP for less, when used with online codes. They do standard, petrol and diesel I think and diesel specific  version, which is a little pricier. Its this one I used.

If you want a good diesel fuel system cleaner then get some BG244 or Archoil 6400-d. Both are equally as good as each other and much more effective than Redex.

You will notice a big difference the first time you use it, then use it annually to keep it clean.

I posted a link on the DPF thread with a discount code for Archoil 6400d, amazing stuff for cleaning out your oil burner and DPF

I would chuck it in once or twice a year, perhaps just a tankful or two prior to an MOT to help clean up the emissions, if need be!

Used twice a year, it will still cost less over the year then the higher priced premium fuels or use it in addition, if you feel the need. (I don't).

I did a little look at the Archoil stuff... Can be a little cheaper on Ebay but you gotta have a little faith that its not fake! Seems to do a similar thing to the catcalling stuff for a bit more money. I might give it a whirl though, to see if I feel an improvement.

I use it annually and just Tesco's diesel.

I first used it on a Mondeo that just passed it's smoke test with 2.94 (fail is 3.0) on its third and final attempt. Was recommended BG244, which you apply to a near empty tank before refilling then drive nice a carefully so it has plenty of time to work at dissolving the deposits. At 1/4 tank refill and drive normally. The next MOT it passed the smoke test at first attempt with 0.16 and then in the following years went down to 0.14 where is stayed until I sold it 9 years later.

I now use Archoil 6400-d as I can buy it 5 litres at a time which works out a lot cheaper between our two diesels and my brothers diesel.

There is a lot of fake treatments out there but as suggested above buy it direct from Power Enhancer.

wise words CW...

i did get some Kirby carpet shampoo from ebay some time ago...it was in a plastic 3.78 litre ( 1 gallon..its from usa) container but the "official" kirby label was one to fit a smaller container....and it was a bit...shall we say not quite the product i was used to using

so now i buy direct from Kirby distributor...and pay the correct price (usually the same as ebay) for the proper branded goods

cheers

my local garage is texaco and is the best for price around here...its at the end of my road as well!!

i see the archoil USAGE INSTRUCTIONS are..

"Add the correct amount of AR6400-D Max to the fuel tank first and then fill up with fuel immediately afterwards.

Treatment ratio is 1:100 > 1:200. A single 400ml bottle will treat between 40 and 80 litres of fuel.

A 5 litre container will treat up to 1000 litres of fuel."

when i fill up from around 90 miles left on the computer....the tank then takes around 40+ litres...i dont like to run the tank too low really...so that means if i use 1:100 for an initial clean that would be one 400ml bottle..

my mileage is low and i estimate only around 8000 a year at a push...the twin pack could be my best buy i guess

looking forward to trying it...my tank is full just now...that could take a few weeks to get down to the low point

will put my findings on the forum later...thanks again

cheers

AR6400-D MAX and AR6900-D MAX

i got these items and put 200 of the 6400 400cc in with 35 litres of shell regular diesel

and am half way through the tank...there is a marked improvement in starting, take up and power..with the turbo of course...and it seems like the mpg is improving.

i will put the other 200cc in when i need a top up..35 litres again

regarding the 6900 treatment

should i wait to use that after all the 6400 treatment is over?

cheers

Put the rest of the 6400 in and then fill up the tank when required.  6900 is a shot every time you fill up there after.  Glad it worked for you!

I he AR6900-D is a fuel additive that basically makes supermarket fuels into premium ones. Once you’ve use the fuel with the 6400-D then use the 6900 at the next refill

started at the weekend with the 6900 on a 40L fill...

i have two garages near me

shell...which this time i used the straight diesel...........1.319p..(not the superV)

texaco which i assume is the same diesel quality.........1.249p

and may switch to

now i am using the 6900 additive..is the above differential going to be a waste of money if i keep on shell

i have the card

going for the air conditioning service with antibacterial clean...£60 plus vat next week

cheers

If you’re using the 6900 additive then just use the cheaper fuel
