my hump, my hump, my hump

Featured Replies

You would hope so seeing as how big the door is allowing access to the front and rear with no B Pillar.

Well there is because the door catch is on it, but it is not between the front and rear passenger.

Right, but they designed it from the start not to have one. Skoda haven't designed the Superb not to have one, so removing it will have serious implications for chassis stiffness.

I also suspect that the Tornado may not have been very stiff.

7ltrs litres of V8 would seek out any weakness

a 1/4" plate x-member would replace the hump, directly underneath the humps location from 1 side to the other of the car, probably ending up stronger than the original

Do yo have some FEA data to back that up or is that a "finger in the air" definate?

Out of interest how many cars do have flat floors? I know there was  a Citroën way back which boasted one but most cars I've had have had some sort of tunnel even when no RWD variant was available (admittedly not always ax pronounced as in the Suberb) makes you think there must be a reason for this.

i also fancy raising the suspension all round to clear the local speed humps, i darent buy a Greenline!

If you wanted you could go and have your Superb Stretched and turned into a Party Bus, just be sure the people doing it get an IVA after the work is done.

Or maybe buy an already Stretched Limo, maybe a Humvee.  A Stretched Humvee.

Or maybe a Mercedes People Carrier type vehicle for hire & reward type work &  that can deal with speed humps.

nah, i need MPG, space and not speed hump dragging when 4 fatties are in the car, i know my market, the Superb is the right base, just needs a tweak

most work is underpriced, (not by me) and asking for meter rates brings on heart attacks, so hence the E class has gotta go.........i tried, i failed, now to work to the lowest common denominator

mt other car is also a taxi, a A6 avant 190bhp DSG, thats going too

Yes of course it is, I was just making the point that us poor 2WD folk lose a lot of otherwise useful space just to keep 4x4 folk happy.

In terms of the tunnel though I think this is at least partially deliberate to impart stiffness to,the floor

I don't think we do lose anything at all as the exhaust uses the tunnel and if you took the tunnel out it would leave the exhaust open to knocks on speed bumps and rough ground which would be a real in the arse in my opinion.

I too would have loved to the rear floor flat but thinking about a bit I can see the logic in retaining the tunnel to locate thinks that need run the length of the vehicle and it would almost certainly add torsional stiffness to car as a whole.

The tunnel is there for a purpose, so skoda can make these and everyone buys one, simply clever marketing

Hello all

It seems the series 3 tunnel mat is cheaper than the series 2, does anyone know if the series 3 one would fit in a series 2?

Superskoda sells them for peanuts.... have you checked there?
