Rear ashtray - alternative parts

Featured Replies

Tried and unfortunately not, the original ashtray is larger.

Hi cheezemonkhai, unfortunately I don't have a picture but I've found this site which shows you what it looks like:- USB

I think the length of the cable is just over a metre which may vary depending on supplier so I would check before buying.

Thanks,

Did you just need to supply 12v plus ground? Just wondering if the box does 12 to 5 or otherwise.

would be interesting to see if newer cars get a 5/9/12v or even step up usb c option.

That could open up 12v at >3A or a full usb c PD to say 60 or even 100W. Perfect for charging the laptop etc on the road ..

No problem.

There are 3 pins for the cigarette lighter adapter, ground, live and I think the 3 one is for the light?  Having a quick read it would appear 100w is perfectly feasible, but that's directly from the cigarette lighter.  I would be a little concerned about the load on the wiring to the usb ports unless you made the lead yourself.  Also would you have to possibly increase the fuse rating, can't remember if the cigarette fuse is stand alone or shared?  Come to think of it, it may be stand alone, I read somewhere or watched a video indicating you can have the cigarette lighter on ignition live or constant.

Shared with the 12V socket in the boot (if you have one).

Doh! Of course and I do, thanks.

Here is pics of the wiring of the Aliexpress product.

This is going to be my next upgrade to my Scout. I may come and PM some of you to talk about which bits I need and as always will try and write it up to assist others. Making my MK3 FL closer to a MK4!
