Just an update.

Been saving and having a full overhaul of my motor.

Getting some bodywork done while I get the MOT.

sorry for the late reply.

been saving my pennies.

I had a similar dilema with my humble 1.4 Classic. I nearly wrote it of when the rear brakes including backplates needed replacing due to rust - garage could only get back plate from dealer at about £200 each + new shoes + cylinder + full spring set + drums etc. Inc fitting&vat was going to get too close to a grand for my liking. Managed to secure fully assembled rear drum back plate assemblies from skoda-parts.com (67 euro each + drums).

Saying that a few weeks later the radiator started leakng a bit - doh - fixed my self (don;t usually these days) but gave the car a thorough checkout whilst it was up on railway sleepers (very secure way for raising car!) .  The car body was rust free but front subframe and radiator surroud were starting to look slightly dodgy - now blathered in an oil/waxoyl mixture

Yes im looking at getting a undercoat on the underside of the skirts on mine as whats currently on is starting to come off.

Can you advise on any good products/prices.

Cheers
