Stock tyres

Featured Replies

What’s the current stock tyres on a sport line? Are they summer types all year round or do they change them depending on when delivered?

anyone had any luck getting them swapped over? I’d prefer an all seasons type even if they’re a bit noisier etc....

Whatever brand of tyres Skoda / VW Group are getting the deals on and are arriving at the production line.

All Season tyres (not as in All Weather / All Season 3 peak)

but as in Summer Tyres for the UK regardless of not all the UK is Dry, Warm, Mild and not all winters are snowless.

Pay money and you can get any tyres you want, but you will be taking away the 4 that came on the car unless the dealership buys 'take offs'.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 are stock on the Sportline and if I'm brutally I honest, I found them awful in every respect.  Hands down worst tyres I have ever had on a car.

Swapped them with 4mm on the front and 6mm on the rear.  I went for all seasons, Vredestein Quatrac 5's.  You'll actually be hard pressed to find may all season tyres that will fit on the standard 19" Vega alloys; the Quatrac 5's and Maxxis AP2's were the only ones I could find.

So far I'm really impressed with the Quatrac 5's, more so having done a few hundred miles in the worst conditions I've ever experienced.  I hope they perform just as well when the temp gets into double figures and are swapped over on to my 280 Sportline, when that arrives.

Oh and they are not noisy at all, quite the opposite.  I've actually seen quite a lot of comments on forums and magazines that alludes to all season tyres generally being more quiet than the Summer equivalents.

Thank you, really useful info.

ill give them a short go but try and move them on as quickly as possible...

I got Bridgestone Potenzas on my Sportline and think they are great. More road noise on a loan Octy VRS running smaller rims than this one.

Grip is ok too.

Bridgestones here as well, was built in Oct. It's snowing here today - they are down as "Summer" tyres so I'm not expecting a huge amount but will be interesting to see.

Yeah they don’t handle too bad really either although I don’t push too hard with kids in the car nowadays.

How are you finding them?  I remember my Octavia vRS being fitted with Bridgestone RE050's from the factory and they were just 'ok' but worn very quickly on the fronts and I found them noisy.

Stock Pirelli P7s on my 19" rims. Not good for grip in the wet but I don't find them noisier than any other brand. I will change them to similar ones that Penguin is using when I get more wear or a puncture. Only done 1500 miles since new (last August 2017) as I don't do much mileage.

I'm up to a massive 350 miles now, 240 of which were in one day home from the dealer.... I'm so overwhelmed by all the other stuff I really couldn't tell you :)

We are off to Cornwall for 10 days soon, so that should add 800-1000 miles to the total and give me a bit of a better idea grip and noise wise. Will be heavily loaded on way down and then lots of little winding roads when we are there so should be a good test.

I used to use Dunlop SportMaax on my old Vectra, they were reasonably quiet and grippy enough for my old man driving, although I guess there is always a grip/wear trade off. I've even been quite impressed with the Nexens that came on SWMBOs Yeti - they got a bit of stick on here but to me they seem pretty good and the missus has a lot more 'vigourous' (and much better) driving style than me.

You are officially driving the 280 Smugline

They seem to sell well on eBay so perhaps with a decent tread depth you will recoup some of your money back quite easily.  (should you wish to get rid of them earlier)

sorry about that :) but I see the good news, yours has been moved forward so hopefully you'll have the smug feeling too, sooner than you were expecting!

Just had an email from the dealer and looks like the build is now locked , so we're aiming for collection in the first week of May

It may work out quite well as my cars 1st service is due in 2k miles so I may be able to avoid the cost of the 1st variable service and put that money towards the £279 service offer.

Ugh, Nexen. Probably the worst tyre I've come across recently! Friend had them on his Vectra, when I drove it they were shocking. My mum has them on her Yaris Hybrid (hardly a powerful car), and I don't drive it particularly hard, and they just don't grip. Then, trying to get up my lane in the snow, I'd have expected skinny tyres and a hybrid in eco mode to do me alright... I had an E Class on summer tyres pass me!

^^^ Which Nexen were those, same type, speed / load rating as on a Sportline?

You get crap Dunlop, Pirelli, Continental, Michelin as well, different ECO, or Performance treads / compounds etc.

I agree with AwaoffSki. When I first saw Nexen tyres on my wife's new Fabia I had serious doubts about the brand. In practice, they've been fine over the two and a half years that she's had the Fabia. I hasten to add that recently I've put two new Michelins on the front of my Mark 2 Superb and they are very nice tyres that take the bumps much better than cheaper tyres and feel well connected to the road.

The Nexens I was talking about were on the missus's Yeti. The Sportline has Bridgestones on it.

I'll be honest the Nexens have been fine all through the crappy winter as well as last summer and that with the missus's enthusiastic driving style. People on here seemed to dislike them mostly without having tried them, but we've found them to be entirely satisfactory.

Does anyone know what tyres you get if you spec the all season option on an SE?
