Wipers not working

Featured Replies

Morning All,

On Tuesday my front wipers and spray will not work.

Rear one is fine.

Checked fuse and is fine.

Gone out this morning as its slightly warmer (as thought it might be cold temps) and still nothing

Any ideas?

electrical check first but as a MK 1  it's highly likely (by time) that one of the spindles has seized up,  will need to strip to find out which,  but there should be a good chance of freeing it off if you haven't burnt out the motor

For the wash: Can you hear the pump running? if so look under the car for a puddle of water as a pipe might have popped off

@benni8; have you been here?

If there is a pull of water under your car, then the washer pipe has popped off, Skodas advice is to use their approved screen wash and not the sort of stuff you would find in the supermarket.

Any screenwash does as long as it's sufficient strength. I use Halfrauds stuff.

I use any stuff as well but that’s what I was told when I took my Fabia Mark 1 and 2 in to get the pipe back on.

Dreading if if it happens on my Mark 3 through.

Currently using Prestone stuff the now, been using that brand or blue col since the last big freeze of 2010.

I cut the silly pipe connectors off mine and joined them with hose. Never had an issue since.
