No Sound on sat nav

Featured Replies

Hi -Hoping someone can help me with this one.

Updated in car Sat nav to recent version for my 64 plate Octavia,All ok boots up and works as such except i get no verbal commands/directions from the car.I tried the SD card in my mates car and works fine but his wouldn't work in mine (no sound) so the card seems ok its something in my car.

Volume for radio/CD etc is fine i tried a hard reboot by holding down power button for 10-20 seconds still nothing.I told the sat nav via voice command to enable voice -and again still nothing.

Racking my brains now

Have you checked your navigation volume isn't 0? You can adjust the volume in the sound settings menu, or you can simply just turn up the volume whilst instructions are being given.

+1 for above.

If I remember right, pressing down the volume button will mute the navigation if you do it while the instructions are being read.

I had the same problem at the beginning, music was normal but no spoken directions & I couldnt figure out what I'd done.

Turning it back up is tricky because you only know of the directions by the small flag symbol in the maxidot until I found the individual volume settings in the menu.

With voice control it is easy to turn the sound on and off. While in the map screen, press the voice button and then say "Navigation Announcements On" or "Navigation Announcements Off". As said, you can alter the nav volume while it is giving a direction. You can get it to repeat the announcement by pressing the roller wheel - all this is with Columbus MIB1, I presume it is similar with Amundsen.

It's how most in-built satnav systems work in terms of setting the volume. It's pretty straightforward if you know where to look. Let us know how you get on :)

If you press in  the right hand knob it will repeat the last directions and then you can turn it up with the left hand volume control
