Range Rover Evoque pros/cons

I am strangely drawn to Suzuki's at the moment - 1.0 Boosterjet Swift and Baleno and the bigger Boosterjet Vitara.

I think they are very under-rated and understated but have a good record...

Absolutely the most rational, affordable, long term choice.

I just wouldn’t bracket them with the Evoque , price alone they’re not in the same league.

A bit like comparing leather with plastic.

Indeed - was just responding to your 'why Suzuki' comment really...

The fact that nobody has mentioned it yet is a concern, but I think the Tiguan looks pretty decent in R-Line spec.  2016 models are close to the price mentioned.

Too many rational buyers.......not being common makes the Evoque more desirable perhaps.

That must depend where you live - theres quite a few where I live.  They look old and out dated now IMO.  All driven by people that can't afford a Disco Sport or a Proper Discovery

I just wish they would go back a tad in size and bring back an improved Freelander.

I knew a guy with one, he said he got rid just on the fuel consumption if nothing else. He's much happier in a GTD Golf.

Didn't mention reliability at all just the mpg being a problem.

I had a look at them before the beemer but to me they just seemed very expensive for what you were getting.

There is definitely a 'want' factor at play here which means a Duster is unlikely to be seen as an equivalent car with better value.

I'm biased though I dislike most softroaders.

Another one to throw into the mix; FIAT Panda 4x4.

If you want a proper 4x4 buy a jimny, if you want a mondeo in a frock, buy an evoque.

as per Penguin   only with plenty of warranty against the inevitable big bills

+1 on the drive belt as first point of call - however, take it back to the garage that changed the arms, and get them to check the bottom ball joints - just in case. I have known arms from the cheaper end of the market (think ECP value range, Trupart etc) have poor quality ball joints fitted. As these are part of the steering system, if you have a dodgy one, then that can cause an intermittent heavy steering if it is sticking or tight.

I get fibrositis type pain across the top of my shoulders if I have to drive any distance and the vehicle doesn’t have good armrests .

The new Suzuki Jimny doesn’t appear to have suitable ones unfortunately.

I drove a relatives (top of the range)evoke  for the day a few years ago and as nice as it was I found my yeti better but possibly not as flash/modern looking let alone ££££££££££ extra.

It was as plain as the pout on her lips that she helped with the design features of the VB Edition.   How could that get spinned wrongly by JLR / TATA or the media.
