New to me a Scout 2008

Featured Replies

I have been a lurker on this site for some time. LastweekI purchased a Scout with a 2.0 pd engine 116000 miles. This car had little by way of service history however it does seem to be very tight. I reside on the west coast of Ireland and Skoda Scouts are very very rare in Ireland. They command a big price even at ten years old. I purchased this car as it was the best one I had seen in Ireland for the money that I could afford to spend.Having lived with this car for a little over a week the following are my observations. It should be noted that this Scout is replacing a 105 bhp superb 2003.

I find that the engine sounds loud and agricultural when in the car but when outside the car it sounds like a sewing machine (at idle/ tick over)

The car is very powerful and quick

On some bends when the power transfers to the rear wheels this causes the balance of the car to shift ( feels a little weird)

There is a small whistle from the turbo when reving the engine under load. There is no sound from the turbo when reving while parked.

I have a electrical problem in the rear tail gate as the door will open on the keyfobbut now when the button on the tailgate is pressed (I suspect a break in the loom)

Regards  TSM

All sounds ok to me other than the need for a new tail gate release button. Mine is now on 172k miles and everything other than tyres and brakes and differential pressure sensor is still original.
