I am pleased I picked mine up yesterday, I would have been really  off after waiting for the back seats to finish the build waiting since bw9, anyway we have gone on a trip in the car today and I put my nearly battery flat Samsung 8 in the charger and after 2hours it hardly put any charge back in the battery and the phone was only warm, So not to sure what the fuss is about. Well done to my dealer and sales person by the way who prioritised my pdi.

Congrats on your new car.

When you get a chance could you put up some pictures of the dog guard?

Enjoy

Yes will do, I am away for a few days at the moment, soon as I’m back I will do it. After say though it is the guard with the legs fastened onto the boot metal hooks and the feet sitting in the side window, which in away I’m pleased because no holes drilled into the interior. The legs are thin and tight up against the boot wheel arch, shouldn’t be a problem when the hatchbag liner arrives.

Just had a call from my dealership RE: the phone charging issue.

Skoda have put a block on all vehicle registrations and releases until a fix for this problem has been implemented.   :crying:

This could be as simple as putting a warning sticker on the phone box are and getting customers to sign a disclaimer, or maybe put a blanking fuse in place to break the circuit to prevent overheating.

The problem is being caused by people putting coins, keys etc where the phone goes causing the overheating problem.

If this is the case, why don't other manufacturers report the same issues, unless they have already actioned appropriate preventative measures??

If it hadn't been for this I could have collected it tomorrow.

Similar thing being reported on the SEAT leon forum https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/attention-anyone-due-to-collect-new-car.444013/

Been to the dealership this morning, handed over the Yeti, so it's goodbye yeti :crying:

Good new is my Karoq is ready and can be collected tomorrow once released by Skoda UK and taxed by the dealership of course.

Phone box is disconnected and disclaimer signed.    Once a solution is found and implemented, the phone boxes can be reconnected again WOOOHOOO.

I have read that this is also affecting Golfs, in addition to Karoqs, Kodiaqs, Superbs and SEAT Leon and Ateca. Not heard of anything else. It seems to be related to the mobile phone signal booster incorporated in the phone box charger, there is a regulatory issue with that. This has been posted on a similar thread on the leon forum.

"Delivery stop for vehicles fitted with wireless smartphone charger, advanced telephone connection and business mobile phone interface

Retailers are to stop delivery of all new vehicles containing certain optional phone preparations to customers with immediate effect.

These phone preparation options normally include a component which amplifies mobile phone signals. Regrettably, due to technical and regulatory constraints, we are unable to provide this function at this moment in time.

All other functions of these options, such as wireless charging and dual phone Bluetooth connection will continue to be fully operational without any restrictions."

Was looking at buying new but found a nice deal for a 'nearly new' Karoq (Only 10 miles on clock!) and secured the car yesterday.

Phoned at 5pm to go through finance and to arrange collection to be told they could not confirm when I could collect due to this issue.

They called me this morning to confirm going into garage Tuesday to get disabled and can hopefully collect by end of week.

Didn't mention a disclaimer...

Any mention of a "goodwill" gesture for the loss of functionality?

I've been told by my dealer that he's been told that the problem with the phone charger only applies to cars in production or recently completed I've had my 1.5 DSG for about a month and he's been told that's o.k. He's going to try and get more info next week when Skoda reopen as he doesn't understand it.

Sounds like it, but Skoda appear to be having problems with this car I want to get a tow bar but there are none on the market at the moment I've spoken to a couple of manufactures and they say they can't get hold of a car to build one as yet, also I managed to break one of the little plastic hooks the boot cover hooks onto , again the dealer cannot get a replacement as the factory won't let any out as yet sounds like there needed to build new cars.

No because he hinted that this is a TEMPORARY measure and it will be restored in the foreseeable future.

Don't let it drop or you'll never get it properly sorted and never get recompense.

Putting a mobile phone that is not wireless chargeable in the phone box would also cause overheating. Simple answer put warning in handbook & label in phone box. Why not just take the fuse out for now?

Just had email from the dealer

“ they (I assume Skoda) have taken all of the wireless charging/phone boxes out of all cars that are due to go into build due to reports of it over heating and becoming a safety issue.” Every dealer has a different story. The lack of a definitive statement from Skoda just leads to rumours & bad customer relations.

Well I have been told that I will keep my wireless charging but I will lose the mobile phone aerial booster(as it doesn't comply with UK regs?!?) and I hopefully pick up my Karoq next week

That is my view exactly, obviously they know what the problem is now. Issue a statement to dealers on what to tell us, dealers then tell us, all singing from same hymn sheet.

1 What problem is

2 Is this temporary or permanent fix

3 What functionality is being lost

4 If they intend to compensate

5 Will car cosmetically be different

Did they say the loss was temporary or permanent?

I would of thought they should be able to get a ‘legal’ replacement, as other car makers have something similar. Unless they’ve all been supplied by Trotter Enterprises 8-)
