Paddles missing on Sportline 190 DSG 4X4

Featured Replies

Just collected my new MY18 190 DSG 4x4 sportline from the dealer, lovely and very impressed, except....There are no paddles on the steering wheel?!

I've just spoken to the dealer who has confirmed they should be there - as per the description in the brochure etc, has anyone else found this?!

Will be interested to see what the resolution is, I'm not sure how they would install after it's left the factory!

They would have to change the steering wheel and do some coding I'd guess.

Crikey!  That's a bit of an oversight.  I double checked the brochure and asked the dealer and they still should be standard on DSG equipped Sportlines.

Did you spec a heated steering wheel?

I'm pretty sure that a paddle equipped wheel can be retrofitted though, as Prykey says.  @Gizmo will know if it's possible, he may have even done it himself.

My  MY18 280 4x4 has them. I thought they were standard on the DSG box sportlines... should be an easy fix though, new wheel and coding with any luck.

Thanks everyone, glad I'm not going mad.

I've just been for a drive in and noticed something else, I think it has a 6 speed DSG rather than the 7 speed *headdesk*

The order form def states 7 speed 4X4 190 - there's three things that make me think however it's actually a 6 speed:

1) I can't get it into 7th! :D even on the motorway cruising, i've also tried manually shifting up using the lever

2) The Skoda Connect app (now connected to the car) lists it as a 6 speed

3) The codes on the build sticker "3V538X" seem to come back in google as 6 speed DSG.

Any way I can tell for sure? I've also made the dealer aware of that one...

I know the manufacture date was 20/10/17 if that helps...

Deep joy!

?

Have you asked the Dealer Principal yet if you can keep that car until they get you the one that was ordered and paid for?

I'll keep things nice until I don't need to be, at the moment I've "innocently" asked the question. Obviously my concern is not just that I've not got the car I paid for, but also that the finance quote and final figures etc might be wrong, it's def a MY18 car - but I thought they all came with 7 speed DSG...

Any info at all would be helpful now so I know if I'm being told porkies...

It does look like they managed to get the right engine in it though! *highfive*

I thought all the current Superbs were 6 speed DSG, with 7 speed being introduced after BW26 when GPF's are also introduced (?)

http://www.skoda.co.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/downloads/brochures/superb_pricing_specs.pdf

The brochure (same one when I ordered) says 190 4x4 7Sp DSG, and more importantly so does my order form! :)

Perhaps it was built before the 7 speed came in, but as far as I was told this was a MY18 car, so I'd expect it to be that spec. I would be interested to know if there was a changeover date at the factory from which all of them were 7 speed vs 6 speed tho.

If there is a price difference your way then good, they can splash the cash.

As to the 7 Speed Wet DSG,  you maybe dodged a bullet there,  snagging issues arising unless that is an Internet Myth.

Well it is not an Internet Myth, but VW / Skoda will say it is..

If on order is DSG 7 you should have DSG& if you accept mistake bys Koda and the give you a good bonuses gadets that could be and option. I'll puch dealer for claryfication or discount on this car as it is not what you ordered. mayby then can give you heated alcantare steraing wheel and something more if you accept that

Nope... my BW13 is supposed to have a 7-Speed DSG (2.0 TDI 150) as I confirmed this with the dealer at the time of ordering.  Obviously I won't know until it arrives :)

My 67 plate sept 17 sportsline hasn’t got the paddles and mine is the 6 speed DSG

I think you may be due some paddles then! According to the dealer (and all of the spec sheets) they've always been standard on a sport line...

One other question for other MY18 Sportline owners - do you have the SIM Card slot in the head unit in the glove box? I'm pretty sure it should be there, but on mine it isn't....

As my OH just said "Did they just find something with a Skoda badge on and say 'f it, that'll do'"

When I was looking around for my car I saw quite a few sportslines without the paddles

Mine is a 17 not 18

iv just done a quick autotrader search and there are plenty of sport lines without paddles

Yeah, this is starting to sound like another typical Skoda situation - the PDF's/spec lists say one thing, reality is another. To be fair they've already admitted it should have them over the phone, it's now the hands of SUK, I'll wait for them to come up with some excuse :dull:

I have no idea if the MY17 cars should have had them, only know that the 18's def should have and mine was produced well into MY18 and has the new full glass MMI/Radio etc...

I would be jumping up and down if you should have them for definite.

my car was a ex demo so I can’t say to much and if I think about it I wouldn’t use them anyway since I’ve had my car I have never put it in manual mode.

but as you say you paid for them you want them or some compensation either way.

Yeah quick search around tends to suggest you are spot on, but still. Dealer brushed it off, I'll deal with it via SUK. If they can't resolve the rest of the issues I'll just be refusing the car anyway, the finance company can deal with it as goods not delivered to spec.

Just remember that your contract is with the dealer you bought from, Skoda UK have no responsibility to you in UK law. If you wish to reject it you need to send the paperwork to the dealer by recorded mail within 28 days and stop using the car.

If its on finance they should help but again its the dealer who arranged it and not Skoda UK.

With my 2nd Sportline soon to be built I was keen to check this out.  I wouldn't like to have DSG again without paddles...

SUK have just confirmed that paddles are standard fitment on all DSG equipped (UK market) Sportlines.    I gave my order number and asked for confirmation, which I was given.

If mine arrives without then I now have some level of fallback as I have email confirmation.  I'll reject the car if it arrives without them and they won't swap the wheel over.

On the plus side I've jumped forward 2 weeks in the build queue, now scheduled for BW14, w/c 02 April.

Thanks, useful to know. When you say stop using it, I presume this is once you declare that you want to reject it? It's my only car and having P/X'd the vRS I'm a bit stuffed without it.....

'Rejection'  is rather different from when The Dealerships do a 'Buy back',  with help (cash money) from Skoda UK the Importer,

this is when they do the right thing as they have to when a vehicle received, PDI'ed / First Registered is wrong, not as paid for,

and can become a Skoda EX Management car and Skoda UK have to suck it up.

So, have you bought a car and own it even with finance / loan, so it will be your car, or is it Leased and someone else owns it and has the value of it when they get it back worked out,

maybe they even financed it, ie borrowed money to buy it.
