Total loss of drive

Featured Replies

I have just had a major issue tonight with my 2015 4X4 DSG Supurb. IT has started losing all drive when pulling away, it feels as though it jumps out of gear and then will not move, It simply sit there with the engine running. I can put it into Drive, Sport or reverse but nothing. I doesn’t happen all the time and only seems to happen if I come to a full stop and go to set off again. I get a  message about the ESC (Can’t remember what it says) and one about the STOP/Start not being available. The engine needs to be turned off and restarted to be able to drive off, although this does not always work first time and it sometimes needs started 3 or f4 times before I get drive again.

Anyone had a similar issue and if so what was the cause before I got to the dealer and get told a load of BS.

Thanks

My car is not a 4x4 DSG but I recently had the ESC and stop start error problems (as well as park assist not available and AFS not available if I turned the lights on).

Codes read and turned out to be the rear, right hand side ABS wheel speed sensor was throwing faults.

If that is out, I can see the car not wanting to move as it cant accurately tell what is happening with the wheels. You will need to have the car scanned for faults anyway.

This fault can feel like a major WTF thing but it is easily sorted. I was in a rush so I hit my (good) local dealer. Had the car back in an hour and the wallet was only about £100 lighter (which seemed feckin cheap to me but then again, my previous experience was with BMW sensors and they are made out of the love seed of golden angels).

Best pay attention to the message so you do know what it says.

Maybe just a Battery Terminal, Connection, ECU or brain fart problem, 'Simply Fixed', because they are Simply Clever.

Is your car still in the 3 year Warranty period and how many miles covered?

Has it covered 40,000 miles and had the DSG Serviced with an Oil Change?  (Audi have that now as @ 38,000 miles)

Best get it into a Dealership and left until a diagnosis done and then repaired.

No need for BS from a Master Tech, they have all the gear and an idea or 3. That is not so with the Service Desk staff / desk manager.

PS,

Not related, but @ 3 years the Haldex Service and Brake Fluid change is due.

RobinK  when I think about it it was coming up with Park assist message as well, so it sound like that's the one.

AwaoffSki it is still under warranty so no problem there, I think I'll get Skoda recovery out to take it to the dealers as I don't think its safe to drive. One of the reasons I didn't get the full messages was on the two occasions it happened I was at road junctions after just moving off and the front of the car was left stuck out into the road by 3 or 4 feet, so my main interest was in getting it moving again.

Thanks all

'Skoda Assist'.  Maybe the RAC.

Good idea, they can arrange the courtesy car and recovery.

:D

Any news?

Is it at the Main Dealership and has it had a Master Tech get wired / plugged in yet?

It can down to a poor wiring harness connection to the mechatronic section of the gearbox.

Thanks for the help every one
