Woeful understeer!

Featured Replies

In the last few weeks, my Fab Vrs has been understeering horribly on all surfaces and in all weathers  . Tyres look fine to me and have the correct PSI (will double check the grip tomorrow on the noisy Bridgestone Potenzas).

Thinking about the Seat strut brace that so many peole have got, as they say it does tighten up the handling.

How true is this and how does it do it?

Probably the excess grit left on the roads due to the weather causing lack of grip

Could be! I'm getting loads of wheel spin at the moment in high gears if i try and pull away from roundabouts. It's good fun though!:D

Slippery roads, caused not only by freezing but mainly by having what IMHO can only be described as half an inch of grit  - especially near roundabouts with traffic lights where a gritting lorry appears to drop about 3 times the 'normal' amount

Not that tech minded, but brace does what it ses and braces the car? ie makes it more rigid and stops any flexing. an extreme example would be under heavy load in a left hand bend only the nearside wheel would be on the ground ie the 'leg cocking' action seen watching BTCC. Hope I'm right? else this was a waste of post, and showing my ignorance

Rumour also has it that some councils aren't using just salt grit, but are mixing it with sugar beet...this means it doesn't displace from the road as much, hence the gritters don't need to go out so often.

Only problem is, under "non-icy" conditions it makes the roads more slippery!

Rob.

Yep - to give us more grip, what we need is a week of SOLID rain. Will clean the roads which are filthy and keep the gardeners, water companies and farmers happy into the bargain :D
