Knocking sound from rear at low speed, vRS 245

Featured Replies

Hi, all,

Recently noticed something (after the cold weather?)

Intermittent faint knocking noise, seemingly from the rear, perhaps brakes, at low speed. When it happens, sounds "regular" ie. Rotational.

Doesn't happen all the time, but generally coincides with rusty-brake scraping sound. Once brakes have cleaned, doesn't seem to happen or at least not as loudly? Happens most often pulling upto traffic lights.

Doesn't happen when pressing hard on brakes or when brakes not in use.

Any ideas?

I don't get the intermittent noise but occasionally when it's been sat all day at work, the rear pads are stuck to the disc. Holds the car back then clunk, off it goes. (presuming here the handbrake does act on the disc).

It's a pain taking cars back to the dealers but you've paid for the warranty one way or another...

I'll give it a while and see if the noise persists. If it still does it after a week or so, I'll take it in...

A spirited drive also may help to bed them in. Any excuse.....
