1.9sdi...220 miles

Throttle not working. Garage advised buying second hand throttle sensor. They said the other was full of water. Fitted the replacement work for 3 miles. 

 

Powered steering keeps going heavy....taxi driver mentioned it may be steering rack as that also happened on his sdi, he said it would need sending off to refurb.

 

would you fix or is it time to scrap? It seems to have come to that time when I'm constantly throwing money at it. Don't get me wron I haven't got much money for another car.

There can be several causes for the steering going heavy.

 

Check the fuse strips on top of the battery - they can have almost invisible cracks.

Check and clean battery earth lead at strut tower.

Possible steering angle sensor fault.

Broken alternator load sense wire - does the battery light illuminate with IGN switched on (engine not running)?

Faulty PAS pump - often water ingress.

Dodgy wiring.

Low PAS fluid.

Faulty rack.

 

 

I'm surprised a car with only 220 miles on the clock is having these faults. Teehee.

I'll have a look, thanks for the points raised. It's at the garage at it minute and regarding the throttle not working.....he fixed it for a day and now seems reluctant to show interest in it.
