Standard VRS MK3 Wheels and Colours?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm picking up an Octy VRS  estate tomorrow from the dealership with 20K miles, 15 plate DSG Derv and the current wheels from the pics looks a solid black.

They are 18" and I believe standard, just sprayed. I'm not to keen on the whole black on the race blue and it's not 'standard' in my mind. However, can anybody confirm if the VRS MK3 was offered with solid black wheels?

Annoyingly I don't have pics as the weblink used now doesn't work as it's been taken down. Any help or thoughts appreciated as I collect at 14:00 tomorrow :)

Found one!

Yes. Pay £200+ to have them refurbed to the colour you want.

Gemini wheels were not offered standard in black. A 15 plate would have had anthracite grey with a diamond cut finish.

Ha, got that part bud, know I can respray them. What I'm wandering is is it a standard option?

If not, the car is not standard, I'll ask for them to put the colour back to standard.

No problem.

I'll be surprised if they agree to change them in any way and if they do, it's probably coming out of discount margin within the deal.

They might agree to respray to the standard anthracite, but I'll be very surprised if they restore the diamond cut face. Allegedly diamond cut wheels are difficult to refurb, which is likely how they ended up all black.

I believe OEM black Gemini’s do exists and were offered but I don’t know which markets in which they were offered. I’ve seen them in a brochure that mentioned the Challenge Pack and engine output in Kw. Possibly Ireland. Can’t remember though.

Anyway. Those ones are likely painted/power coated but OEM black ones do exist.

black was offered here with the black pack option.

i prefer these

Yeah I meant in the UK market, if it wasn't clear, since we were talking about a 15 plate :tongueout:

Agree, Xtremes look really good and have grown on me considerably.

If they have been refurbed well I’ll gladly take them off your hands, I am planning on doing my Gemini’s black shortly. The diamond rim is a lovely idea, but it doesn’t last and it’s hard to recut diamond rims. My biggest issue is that the grey used on the wheels is slightly off compared to the grey paint on the car! Black would suit mine much better :)

As mentioned, silver and anthracite with diamond rim are the UK spec colours for Gemini’s.

Thanks for all the help everybody, Sasha, may be a bit of a nightmare logistically and with tyres on the wheels etc! But I may consider it!

Just picked it up, god these things are awesome! I can straight from Germany where I’ve been in a MK7 GTI to the Octavia and it really didn’t disappoint. So so chuffed! Only crap pics so far along the M4, nicer ones of the MK7!

PS - in the flesh, well chuffed with the wheels :D

Mine was advertised as coming with Anthracite Gemini's but I ordered the Challenge Pack and this changed them to black. (Ireland) Didn't know this until it arrived at the Dealers. But I was glad because I didn't really like the idea of having Diamond Cut Alloys. My wife has them on her car and they are a nightmare.

The wheels do look quite good actually. Would look good with a black pack retrofit; effectively black grille and mirror caps. Probably way too early to think about retrofits... Enjoy the car! B)

I would always get the Black Pack, I’m finishing mine off properly, like the Challenge Pack on IRL spec cars, going for black lettering, colour coded badges, black wheels and tailpipe trims. Will look spot on then :)

Yeh I’d be keen to get the black grille asap; I’ve got a list as long as both arms of things I’m keen to get on with. For the moment it’s drive it!

What are the typical ‘basic’ things people are buying when they get the Octy? I’m after rear boot tray, rear boot / bumper guard, black grille and then the more difficult bits!

Id like a rear and possibly front diffuser, custom exhaust that deletes rear box and has the outlets actually using the cutouts. All hidden away. DTUK box, then I’ll worry about handling.

but that latter list will be after 12 months when the warranty runs out!

Done 500 miles since Friday, back to home in Bath and now in London visiting friends. Over the moon!

Also, what’s the deal with these rubber strips on the side?!

They must be after-market add-ons.

Nice car btw

Or a dealer fit extra. Will protect the doors slightly, but they look a little out of place on a vRS IMO. Front sensors are not factory either, do they work on the OPS display?

I’m running my GY Eagle F1s at 35 PSI all round, as per the recommendation from Skoda on the petrol flap.....

Works well for me, road noise not too bad for 18s.
