I would like to update my head unit, currently I have the radio unit called blues. I found online a used, but it is in perfect condition head unit with a touch screen. 

Do I need to buy a radio control unit also?

Show the picture of what you have found - is it Swing, Bolero or Amundsen?

Swing - display & control unit in one piece

Bolero/Amundsen - separately display and control unit

When looking at the display, the Swing has an SD reader just beneath the screen while the Amundsen and Bolero have them on the control unit in the glove box. 

 

The only major issue I can see is whether or not they have component protection. I'm not sure how it can be disabled, but I believe that it has been done.
