Kids have been saying for weeks that theres an echo in the car...

 

I've been adamant that there wasn't, even got to the point where I was going to take my daughter to the quacks for an ear test 

 

Turns out they were right, for some reason I clapped in the car and herd it resounding around the car a millisecond later; turns out the "voice enhancement" function had been turned on 

 

Turned all the way up its like having a mic in the car, quite unexpected but usefull now if found what it is and what it does; have a play around folks, awesome feature with passengers in the car.

where do i find this in the menu?

I think it is something that can be enabled by VCDS or OBDEleven tweaks but it isn't setup as a default in my L&K. In the normal 274 page English paper manual it isn't listed but it is in the 344 page English PDF manual on page 135.

I believe it wasn't long ago introduced.  It defo isn't on mine, built Jan '17 but I recall seeing it being mentioned as something that was going to be introduced in certain markets; perhaps with the touch screen 9.2" Columbus (?)

 

 

If you press the up or down volume on the screen, a symbol will appear in the top right of the display.  Press this and you will go to a new page.  In here you can adjust the effect.  

I took some colleagues to another site a few weeks ago and the lady in the back couldn't hear the conversation very well so I used this.  it does feel a bit weird but it works.

So whatever you do, don’t mutter about the mother in law if she’s in the back and you were talking quietly to your partner in the front!

The voice amplifier doesn't extend to the boot, right?

Ah probably won't have it then.

I have it and I think it was introduced the same time as the new infotainment systems and the connected services. Mine was build week 38 and has it.

Thank heavens you posted this, I have been thinking that I'm losing my mind since i got my Superb. Hearing that echo all the time, i just went out to check and this was set to maximum.
