Hi anyone put upgrade H15 halogen bulbs into their main beam/DRLs?side lights.

I need some now as well after fitting c6 LED H7s  from amazon, and they work really well with good cut off lines and no dazzle, tried hids H7r, but noticed was dazzling on coming traffic, only have reflector lenses, so fitted led instead

I fitted some MTEC H15 Super White bulbs to mine, the visual difference to the DRL/side lights was that it produced a nice crisp white light.  Then I tried the full beams at night and errr..... oh dear.  I kid you not, I put full beam on and it's like no one turned up to the party.  You almost couldn't tell that they were on.

 

Im sure that there was something wrong with them (other than the blue coating of the bulb reducing light output) as comparing to a normal bulb the internal shield looked different (and may explain why the beam pattern was odd).  Regardless, the blue coating on the bulb, to me, just decreases the output.

 

I swapped them for the originals the following day.  I think the only real option are the Osram Nightbreakers which I will get around to buying at some point.

Thanks for that heads up. The only osrams I can find are the cool blues, not much choice for H15s.

The H15 choice is minimal, and your right it's Cool Blue intense that I was going to get as I don't think they do Night Breakers in H15

 

Whilst they have a blue coating on it's far lighter than the other bulbs I bought and Osram bulbs are well rated so I'm sure they would be fine.

Oh that might be difficult as H15 is dual function being main beam & DLR'S which run at reduces brightness at night which can lead to a yellow glow

 

Dunno how that'll pan out with LED but, you'll be needing VCDS anyways 

Allegidly  you donto need Vcds now  and the dlrl is incorporated 

Had my Octavia nearly a month now and the lights are the the only thing I'm (mildly) disappointed with, especially the DLRs as they just look so yellow.

If anyone's got links to H15s and/or H7s that work well and are a straight plug & play, can you post up the links please

If you're swapping out halogen bulbs the car will be setup to run the DLR's at night at a reduced brightness. How will the LED deal with that without VCDS adjustments or will it just be right ?

The new H15 come  with  daylight  running  bulbs  attatched

Sorry not clued up on this, once the High beam is on does it matter, what exactly happens, does DLR reduce in brightness automatically ,?? but bright enough when the rest of the lights are off??

The H15 does main bean & DLR

 

When the main beam isn't on the DLR runs at a lower brightness at night, as a side light.

 

As for the bulb you've chosen wow, that's a lotta money, I hope you'll be very happy with it although, I'd be asking Ledperform "how it works with the reduced brightness signal at night when your car uses it as a side light"
