Retro fit Octavia 2 rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

Not sure if anyone is interested but parking sensors are availalbe now for the Octavia 2. Using the same brilliant 'Cobra' kit as SEAT use (we also use them as a genuineMazda accessory) they are pretty easy to fit and can be colour coded to match the bumper. Ive included a few pictures for you to check out, dont look to bad even if I do say so myself.

Prices may well vary so have a word with your dealer if you interested.

Please give us a ball park figure for supply and fitting?

Regards

Are these the same as for the Octavia 1?

You could fit them to the Octavia 1 but they arent the same as the accessory Octavia 1 kit.

Had a letter from Mitchells today about garage fitted extras,

this kit is listed at £148.03 and £289.03 fitted.

If its easy to fit does £141 sound right for fitting!! me thinks not. But they do have a spanking new workshop to pay for!

Oh, they quote £117.50 for a dog guard, £17.50 MORE than the rrp. but they would give 10% off.

hmmmm.................

me smells a rip off

£141 sounds pretty good for fitting. I charge our sales dept two hours to fit including painting. Labour at retail is £75 plus VAT per hour so that would be about right.

If you have to take the bumper off and a fair bit of trim like the other Skoda kits then I would say 2 hours is pretty good.

Bumper stays where it is but the boot trims etc have to come out. The book time is 1.50 hours for fitting the kit, I add an extra half hour for prepping and painting the sensors.

I take it these sensors dont connect up to the stream units display?

No they dont.

My local dealer fitted them and painted them 9 months ago for £195. Must admit they're fantastic- don't even need to look where I'm going when I reverse now. A monkey could reverse park the car now!

What is the Cobra kit part number? I would be interested in these for my wifes new Passat B6 with CAN BUS. Does this use a relay off the reversing lights?

  • Author

Doesnt use a relay, the feed for the parking sensor unit comes off of the reversing light at the clutster.

Doesnt tie in or effect CAN BUS.
