Octavia / Bolero / usb audio

Featured Replies

Hello all

I've read a few posts on this topic but not found anything conclusive. I've just  bought a 2015 Octavia vrs estate, and want to use an Apple ipod as an audio source via usb, leaving the bluetooth free to connect to my phone. Unfortunately the usb input to the Bolero unit does not recognise the ipod, or  for that matter my iphone 6. It charges them, but does not appear to want to know about them as audio sources. Handbook says it should support ipod/iphone. Bluetooth connection is working fine. Anyone got any ideas / suggestions?

It won’t support them on that age of car. You need a Mitsumi MDI connector for the Bolero/Amundsen up to MY16, only the Columbus could support an iPod via the USB. MY16 onward cars have iPod connection support via the USB. I bought an SD card and filled it full of music in MP3 format, as this age car also doesn’t support FLAC files until I upgraded to an MY16 Amundsen with SmartLink.

Thanks for the info SashaGrace - was the upgrade to Amundsen done at a dealer? I see you're in Menai Bridge - by strange coincidence we have just come back from Beaumaris after a few days holiday -small world!

Haha, I’m based closer to Beaumaris than MB, but the postcode is MB. I grew up in the town and lived there for 18 years. The upgrade stereo came from a crashed car and the component protection was removed by a Skoda dealer. Certain features won’t work on the new radio like voice commands, nav and SmartLink so the radio was sent to Poland for coding. Th Mitsumi MDI connection for the MIB1 Bolero isn’t such a complicated upgrade I’m lead to believe, haven’t looked into it massively myself though.
