Strange filter housing ??

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am in the process of replacing the radiator and aircon pump on the 2010 VRS CR170.

I noticed what looks like a filter housing, like the oil filter housing but a bit smaller underneath the car in front of the sump.

It looks like it screws into a large metal block with find on it.

Anyone know what is is??

Cheers

Dave

Could it be and am only suggesting if its directly below the oil filter could it be a oil cooler.

I agree, what he is seeing is the oil filter/oil cooler housing assembly by the sounds of it

The oil filter housing is on the top front of the engine, this is smaller, below the engine screwing upwards.

Is that an additional oil filter?

Its just the bottom of the oil cooler, no idea what is inside it but its not a filter

Just out of curiosity is there any rubber hoses go to and from it ?.

Does it need the filter (if it is a filter) changed?

No its not a filter its filled with hot oil and then its cooled with cold water circling around it inside the square block.

If me memory is right but someone else might point out  differently a hope this helps
