Hello

 

My 2010 1.2 TSI yeti was diagnosed with a faulty ABS control unit.  Dashboard lights pop up and engine loses lots of power.

 

Skoda is quoting me over 2000€  to replace it, which is more than I have on my savings account.

My two choices are simple.  Either I try to source a used part on ebay, or I keep using the car as it is. 

 

These are the  parts I was asked to source

I've identified some elements on Ebay.co.uk, but before buying stuff I need to ask you guys if there is anything else I should know?  Did anybody try this before?

I assume there was a specific ABS failure code displayed.

If not

I wouldn’t have thought it was a common fault and I’d also be looking hopefully for a cracked turbo pipe instead ......just be sure before you spend the money either way.

Hello!

 

The fault code is: J104

You may be able to replace just part 2 from the diagram above, depending on what the fault is.  That would make the job easier, I should think, as there would be no hydraulic connections disturbed.

J104 is just the number of the module as listed in the wiring information, not a fault code.

I will try to get the  VCDS software to read the code.

It’s the stuff happens syndrome.

It would be useful if "spyshagg" stated their location in their details on the left. I suspect they aren't in the UK.

Sorry. Fixed it. 

Not, not in the UK.

 

After talking with the dealer some more, I was reassured to just purchase any unit with the reference in my opening post. The programming does the rest.

 

 So I just purchased a working used unit for around 60€. It came from a Golf 6.  I'll let you guys know when it arrives and is assembled.  If the fault happens to be anywhere else on the car, at least I only spent 60€.

 

 

About the turbo pipes, I'll have them checked.  I said the car loses a lot of power, but its only when the ESP error pops up.

Clue's in the word "Portugal" in the signature line.

It wasn't there when I asked the question, and he added following my query.

Went to another dealership do get a second opinion. The problem was a dirty throttle body.   

 

It was identified as a reoccurring issue and skoda has an oficial code  issued to all dealerships.
