Unusual Locking Issue

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for your time and help.

I have a 2003 Octavia Mk I, and recently noticed that manually locking/unlocking the driver's door no longer works. Central locking system still works using the key fob, and the lock on the rear hatch also works manually.

Don't want to take the door apart without checking first for any tips, but I'm at a loss. Would have expected the central locking system to have a problem before manual keyed entry.

Any ideas?

I should also clarify, the key goes in but does not turn at all. Is it likely to be a problem with the lock barrel, or more likely the tumbler pins or such?

I would rule out electronics since central works still, unless someone knows of some strange wiring quirks.

Replacement key barrel cost £30 and it's made to fit existing key. It will take about 2 weeks to come from the factory in CZ. If you can't wait, you can order new barrel with random key for next day but it cost £110+
