Replacing CV Joints

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm looking at changing my wheel side CV joints on my VRs due to an annoying knocking/clicking noise I've been getting for a while now. Found some decent looking CV joints such as the link below from Euro:

https://www.eurocarparts.com/skoda-cvjoints

Does anyone know whether this comes with both left and right wheel side or just one?

Can anyone tell me whether this will actually last a good amount of time once fitted or whether it will just be a bit crap?

Otherwise does anyone have any recomemendations as to what CV Joints to use?

Cheers.

Generally speaking you only get one in a pack, but nothing to stop you from giving em a quick call to double check.

That's for one joint, they're not handed so you'll need two to do both sides.

Q-Drive is Chinesium rubbish, buy the GKN parts instead.

I brought a CV joint from ECP/CP4L and it was making a noise within a few thousand miles, the rubber boot that came with it also split very quickly and I could not get the CV joint off to replace it, the CV joint was seized onto the drive-shaft, I had to take the inner joint off and do it that way.

In one of the fabia project threads someone had a similar problem with an ECP CV joint, it broke and left them needed a recovery, they could not get the broken CV joint off either and had to cut it off with an angle grinder.

So I would recommend staying away from their CV joints.

P.S. if you are buying stuff from ECP check 'Car Parts 4 Less' as they are the same company but the prices are always a fair bit cheaper with free delivery.

I have an outer CV joint puller which makes getting them off a lot easier without bashing them. The pullers are fairly cheap on ebay.
