Damage to light switch surround.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Cleaned my my car yesterday (before the heavens opened!!!) and noticed a scratch or a tear to the light switch surround where it says auto.

Ive attached a pic.

Does anyone know if that part is replaceble or part of the switch mechanism.

Thanks

adrian

It almost looks like a crack?

Could you pop it out and use some black paint on the reverse to stop light coming through?

I could try taking it out. Would you happen to know how to do that???

Was thinking bout taking it in as to me its almost as if the paint or whatever it is has split.

Doubt id get anywhere though.

I wonder if this can happen if the switch is turned against it's stop and tries to rotate the whole assembly in the recess?  So it's dragged the backing decal and split it?

If it's still in warranty (I guess all mk3's are), it's worth trying the dealer first before pulling things apart.

Thanks for the link. I have booked into Skoda 16th May for them to look at this and a couple of other bits.

I do t really touch the switch it just gets left on auto all the time. The only time it’s been switched to off is when it came back from service at the dealership.

Fingers crossed they will sort it but if they don’t its not too steep for a replacement.

Thanks

adrian.

This may be of help. It's on an Octavia but I can't imagine them being too dissimilar:
