Wrinkled Seats

Featured Replies

Picked up my new Fabia VRS on Wednesday, noticed that the back seat(just under the hearest) is all wrinkled(not the cloth covering), appears to be a problem with the foam underneath. Took it back to dealers who have contacted skoda, sounds like I'll be getting a replacement rear seat.

Anyone else had similar problem?

My front passenger seat had the same problem, all replace by a very nice chap ;) at a very helpful garage all under warrenty.

To be honest I was hoping nobody had experienced the same problem, I'm now worried my replacement seat will be the same if this is a common problem.

most likely an "one off" mine was the front seat not rear. Never heard of anyone else and as it was replaced under warrenty I wasnt bother to check lol

I've got a wrinkle (well 2) on the back seat. The dash has a 'bubble' to the left of the binnacle. Lord only knows what's gonna happen with that ? I've only just noticed it after 2 months as I was detailing the dash yesterday.

...as I was detailing the dash yesterday.

Detailing? Whatcha done then?

. Do you think it could be the remap? Its just that mine hasn' t got a bubble????

Chris, when you get the 'bubble' this is what you'll look like driving it .....

What on earth does this mean? "I was detailing the dash"? Can I do this? Do I need specialised equipment? I'm really puzzled, any help appreciated

OMG, OMG (x2!) thanks for the info, but I never thought this kinda thing would exist. I must admit that I carefully clean my car, but after that I tend to concentrate more on life in general. Everyone to their own I suppose, but I just can't get my head around this concept.

Do I need specialised equipment?
Yeah, a slightly damp Chamois Leather. :D

Erm..... genious this one .... Cleaning the dash IN FINE DETAIL (around the clocks and switches etc....

Back to the seat problem - I have a wrinkled seat, rear passenger side near where the black meets the white - thought it would sort itself out cause it was new - will take a look, and possibly take it back.

My problem is in exactly the same area. Anyway, car booked in for the 23rd, apparently they are going to remove the covers, fix the underlying foam and then replace the covers. To be honest with car only being a week old I thought it would just be a straight swap of the rear seat, as long as they do a good job I'll be happy, love the car!

Car dropped off this morning, will post update tomorrow. Incidentally, was at my dealer on Sat for my free car wash and noticed another brand spanking VRS had exactly the same problem with the rear seat, just below the headrest on the on the rear seat(passenger side), seems to be a common problem.

This is a funny thread

When i went to look at a brand new one im buying in the showroom it had this problem, the guys have replaced it when another set from Skoda but the Sales guy mentioned there is one slight crinkle (a few less than the original i was looking at) as apparently they started using a different manufacturer and have had a few teething problems with them. Apparently they should smooth out within a few weeks, and if not, they will replace them.

I have an 06 fabia, and I too have a rear passenger seat with wrinkles below the headrest. I also have one in the front passenger seat (on the base, left side leg support). Also the edge of the rear drivers side seat (on the 60/40 split) is not particularly smooth. Bit poor on the quality control front if there letting a number of them go out the door like it. But I guess they do the sums and not everyone is going to complain. Everyone getting theres sort out ok on warrenty?

Finally the drivers seat in the base looks a little wrinkled, I guess where from i've been sitting. Is this normal?

Love the car otherwise, just bit disappointed with the trim. (dash rattle, front fog light trim not properly attached and the wrinkled seats).

Seat fixed under warranty, no problems and now looks perfect. They actually brought a specialist in who removed the cloth, smoothed the underlying foam and restiched the cloth, well pleased.

Dealer said they've had to do loads of em.

Just noticed my 06 vRS (2.7 miles on the clock) has this too

See attached, looks much worse in reality.

Oh well, back to dealer, test the after sales. Why did they let this past the PDI?

This forum is proving to be the bearer of bad news as well as incredibly helpful!!!

After reading this thread, I went to check my seats only to find that both sides of my rear seat are suffering from the problem and now - after being to the dealer about it earlier on - have found smaller similar problems with the lower parts of the front seats!!!!

My VRS is booked in next weds for a full inspection and then a possible trip to a seat trimmer to see what can be done about it. On the minus side, the guy has provisionally booked it in for three days in case it needs parts or the seats taken to the trimmer. He automatically infomred me that they'd give me a courtesy car but it still means I'll be without the VRS for three days!!! A small price to pay if they sort the problem i guess.

One interesting point is that upon phoning the Skoda technical helpline, the service manager was told that this is not a fault that they have listed as yet. Now I know that us 06 owners haven't the cars too long and that it may take a little while for the QAR's to be processed before Skoda technical do have it listed on their database, but I'd just make sure when dealing with your dealer over the issue that they do register the fault correctly so it does end up going on the Skoda database. I'm guessing this might speed up the warranty process for anybody that experiences this problem in future.

I took mine to the dealer on monday about this, I had to pop back on fri about another issue only to find they hadnt asked Skoda about it yet.grr.

They took a load of photos but they didnt think Skoda would do anything about it! When I mentioned others had their seats sorted out they said the dealer might of done it without consulting Skoda, and that the dealer would not get paid by Skoda. Those who have had thiers fixed, do you know if Skoda authorised it? Just hope this isn't going to turn in to a fight.

yes, for me it's an official warranty claim that is being lodged with skoda via the appropriate QAR (quality assurance report?) procedures. The dealer phoned skoda tech for advice as I previously said.

Also, if you read my post above you'll see that my dealer have provisionally booked my car in for three days. There's no way they would spend the best part of three days working on it if they weren't being reimbursed by skoda through the warranty scheme.

Yes, same for me, it was a Skoda approved repair, I know this as the dealer actually said he would have to contact Skoda before before authorising the repair.
