Can someone help identify this connector?

Featured Replies

Hi I opened the bonnet to change my headlight bulbs today and noticed this electrical connector unplugged. Can anyone let me know what this is?

It is right at the front of the engine bay just behind the bonnet release. I don't want to just go hooking it up before I know what it does as I guess it could have been disconnected for a reason.

It's 2010 mk2 OCTY VRS cr170.

Bonnet latch microswitch? (for alarm).

What colour are the wires, can't quite make them out in the photos?

Brown/green and brown would be consistent with that idea.

Another possibility is an external/ambient temperature sensor, I guess. Will look up those wire colours now.

Brown/yellow and brown/white for ambient temp sensor

Another possibility: purple/white and brown/white  windscreen washer level sender.

Thanks Wino for the helpful response, I do appreciate it. I have attached better shots below. One side of the connector has a brown and brown/red mix wire. The other has a brown and Brown/green mix wire. Bonnet latch sensor sounds highly probable. I wonder now if the previous owner disconnected it due to alarm issues.

Do you get any indication on the dash to say the bonnet is open?

Disregard. Misread who the above post was from.

Checked my car earlier and can confirm it is for the bonnet catch micro-switch

No i don't get any indication the bonnets open . Thanks Dilksie for taking the trouble to check this, much appreciated. I will reconnect and see how it goes, i have read on here that if you have a faulty switch it can set the alarm off so maybe that was why someone disconnected it. Hopefully that wont be the case. Thanks Wino for you input too.
