I am am looking to purchase a skoda octavia vrs - where can I found out whether it's a 220 or 230 - I can't view the v5 till I test drive to check. 

 

Ive gone on dvla and it says 143g/km. 

 

any websites where here I can find out - if I entered the reg?

What year is it? The 230 only came late in the pre-facelift model life. If it's facelift then it's definitely 230 (unless a 245).

Its january 2016 pre facelift. 

IIRC if it has black 19" extreme wheels it's the 230. If has 18" or anthracite Extremes it's a 220.

The 230 only came in 4 colours; Black, White, Red, or Grey.

 

They all had 19" Xtreme wheels, tinted rear windows, black grille, black mirrors, black exhaust trims (instead of chrome), colour maxidot, leather interior with heated front seats.

 

The VRS logo is different in the leather headrest - the logo is in colour, rather than simply indented into the leather. The VRS badging was slightly different on the front grille and rear - the V in the lettering was black. Some also had 230 decal stickers on the lower part of the rear doors.

 

It also has the VAQ diff (though not easy to check visually from an advert!).

 

If it doesn't have all those or it's a different colour then it won't be a 230.

 

I'm not even sure the V5 listed the 230 bit.

According to DVLA my vRS 230 (Estate, DSG) is 147 g/km. Hatch and manual options will be different though.

The seller can view the V5 can they not?

What do they say they are selling?

 

Put up the registration number maybe.

Weren't some of the black bits available as options on the 220? But its a 220 for sure if its got a chrome grille, 18" wheels or not painted black, white, red, or grey. 

 

I'd be surprised if it is a 230 that the seller isn't making that clear. I would have thought the 230 was slightly more sought after.

Yes precisely, if it doesn't have them, or it's blue/green/yellow etc then it's 99.9% not a 230.

Ive clarified with the dealer they advertised as 220 but confirmed it is a 230. 

 

Confirmed has the 230 specification as @ahenners mentioned.
