licence plate light

Featured Replies

Hello all, i was trying to replace my old halogen bulbs for licence plate with new LED bulbs and whole bulb whent inside together with the contact, so anyone knows how to fix that issue, how to get it out, and how to open that part where trunk lock is placed? thanks for your answer!

I've got to replace a defective bulb on mine, and have put it off for a while because of this very issue last time I changed one...

Last time I unclipped the bottom/low sides of the tailgate trim and fished my hand in to take out/replace the bulb then put it back in place. I've heard the tailgate trim can be a nightmare to re-instate but by only unclipping the bottom I didn't have this problem last time at least. You may be able to fish it back out via the number plate licence hole if you're lucky and/or hold it in place with something when putting the bulb in if you are careful, but loosening the tailgate trim you don't even need to undo the corroded screws.

Why they didn't make the bulb holder part of the assembly I have no idea, it's a crap design...

I replaced my drivers side electric window regulator yesterday so waiting to drum up the enthusiasm to change mine! :D

@umaric7 @AndyPants - Replacing the tailgate trim panel is a 2 person job!

While replacing my number plate lights with higher output ones, I did indeed push one bulb holder into the cavity.

However, all i did was unclip the lower edge and push my hand up into the narrow opening and managed to push the holder back in place and swap

out the bulbs. It wasnt easy but if you can endure a certain amount of discomfort it is possible to do it on your own.

I remove the tail gate trim, then pull the whole bulb assembly out, replace bulbs and out back in. Then quickly (and easily) put the trim panel back on.

Unsure why people stating it's hard or a two person job to reinstall the trim.
