Aftermarket stereo systems

Featured Replies

Hi, I have exactly the same situation, issues:

(origianl config - MFD1 with AMP in boot and CD changer)

1 You can forgot about connect2 solution - the pin 11 in mini iso is empty (for me) it is resposible for analog signal called REM

2 Don't know how to connect radio, car has CAN but is it a CAN BUS with steering wheel signal?

3 26 pin socket has 2 pins for CAN, it is to send initiation signal to AMP which is inside boot(it is possible to buy converter to make it work with aftermarket radios but it is expensive -skoda AMP on)

If pin 11 is indeed empty for op,  then connects2 might not be working there either. I can only imagine the steering wheel controls go via canbus then, but I have no way to check.

The only advice I can give at this point is to either try to connect the canbus wires if you're feeling confident, or leaving well enough alone if you don't.

Hi there fellow Skoda owners.

I am seeking some advice for my MK1 Skoda superb. I recently purchased an android system to bring my DX sat nav unit up to date with modern technology but there was socket for my steering wheel controls.

The other item I purchased worked which were a DAB adapter, dash cam, reversing camera, tyre pressure monitor system and a OBD unit.

I would like to know if anyone has a unit installed with all of the above installed with green illumination to make it look as stock as possible.

Thanks in advance or any help from my fellow Skoda owners.

Hi Jay. Did you ever get this sorted. I have the same problem. lol

Hi guys, apologies for the late reply, unfortunately I could not find a way to get the steering wheel controls linked up to the stereo.  So I went to a car stereo shop in Manchester to enquire about patch leads to buy but they said it won't. The only way is to hard wire the steering wheel controls to the actual android head unit.

I will be paying them to do this for me guys. I have managed to run all the wires through to the back of the head unit.

Also buying a new unit to install a tyre pressure monitoring system onto it too

**INSTALL UPDATES**

I have a new ariel installed on the roof with a SMA connector for the DAB USB stick and a FM/AM radio lead for the back of the unit.

I reversing camera from the boot to the back of the radio, it is one that is part of the number plate light bulb cover (pic below)

Also ran the wires through for the dash cam

So again, I am very sorry guys, I will be paying for these items to be connected up to the new unit that is being purchased. I am more than happy to post pics up of everything working (hopefully) when it is all installed and connected up.

Thank you all for your advice, help and support through this project but I have come to a stop due to lack of knowledge for the steering wheel controls problem.

If anyone wants pics of the end results then leave a post and I am more than happy to post a reply.

Hope everyone is well, be safe out on the road guys and gals.
