Airbag fault

Recommended Posts

After a bit of advice

My airbag light came on about 3 weeks ago and at the same time stereo started to play up.

I took my car to the dealers for a software update on the stereo and to look at the airbag light.

After a nice little wait the dealer came back to me and said we can’t update the software on the stereo as it’s refusing to update, and the gps aerial needs renewing.

With the airbag fault drivers front crash sensors- found to be internal in the airbag control unit.

Has anyone had this before?

Do I replace the airbag control unit? (I don’t really want to buy one to find the fault is else where)

And is there any after market stereo units that can replace the Columbus unit like for like?

many thanks

It’s a Columbus unit. The satnav doesn’t allow me to put the last part of the post code in, and the unit it self keeps doing a full system reboot

Right, it's one of the older units. If it's misbehaving and won't accept an update then trying to make it take one could well destroy it. No spares available for me to try a repair either I'm afraid, so other than a replacement unit or a different one which will do what you want, there's not a lot more to do really.
