Put my car on a weighbridge

Featured Replies

surely the weighbridge was reading sort , how do you think scrappies make money , the scales say 1300kg but the thing your weighing is actually 1400kg therefore 100kg profit on the scrap and i bet the weighbridge is designed for 20 ton wagons to be weighed , therefore less accurate at lower weights , might be right though as skoda figure is 1315kg so please feal free to ignore this post , doh.

In Slovenia the car weighs 1245kgs :)

(in brochure)

Why is the fabia so heavy?? I have a Golf PD130, its a car van no rear seats, but with my tools in the back it only weighed 1260kg.

20kg is a fecking heavy wheel

you'd be surprised MR.Rallyred

they are heavy things

Take the bonnet off and take mr hole saw to the support frame thing.

Polycarbonate windows will cost you about 200 quid for the four side ones.

Take the metal supports out of the bumpers

My Capri track car had just a bonnet skin with no support oir hinges.

i went a bit daft wi the hole saw on the capri but it saved a hell of a lot of weight.

it was till road legal.

Remove the roof

Actually, scratch that, seeing as it's you - due to the power your car now has, you need all the brake force you can get

Keep 'em coming. :finger: :P :P :P

Thinking about it a bit - The bumper bar has quite a bit sticking out the sides - Something might be choppable. Polycarb windows might be a possible in the future.

Mate has this odd dremel like tool which can spin a small angle grinder type blade at 25,000rpm. Can see it maybe being put to use. :)

I'm sure the insurance company would love to hear the latest list of mods ;)

Here's mine on a weighbridge earlier today. 1320 Kg with:

A full tank of fuel (@ say 1 Kg/litre)

Say 10 Kg of extra bits (ICE, leather etc).

So lugging me around as well that's 1420 Kg all-up weight.

Lets ALL take our cars to a weighbridge. One thing this does bring up is mine weighed 1300 dead on with half a tank and about 50kg/60kg of engine components in the boot.... Must mean the actual vRS has weight gains over a TDI in other places than just the engine and gearbox which I now run. I also have an FMIC on the front which must add a few kgs to the oem spec?

Yes and a sunroof to add to the 'ex-showroom' weight.

Just been out with John Yardley to do some testing. His indecently quick 'PD100++' weighed in at 1240 Kg with a full tank of fuel, giving an all-up weight of 1340 Kg inc driver. Using K-Power and Vag-Com logs, it produced 195 BHP and 302 lb/ft.

I'll bring the software to the C&F 3 meet.

Dead handy weighbridge that - anyone in the Nottingham area wants its location, PM me.

John's car is quality - just another reason its a quick little bugger...

Just think J - hes only 40 horses behind you, but

Jason, you know if I could I would have the pd150 engine, hybrid turbo, racing injectors, fmic, Milltek exhaust, switchable map, 6 speed gearbox + uprated clutch, decent suspension and brakes, leather interior, BMC CDA Air Intake, Uprated inlet and exhaust manifolds, LSD etc .

Almost as per your mighty beast!
