CGPA 51KW engine

Featured Replies

Hello all, hope everyone is well. I'm a new Fabia owner. Just bought a 5yr old 2013 SE model. The engine is the CGPA 51 Kw 1.2 and it's got 25000 miles on it. Engine seems very growly for a second on start up then is quiet. It Growls a little on acceleration but overall there's no problems with the drive. Just wondering if there is anything I should be concerned about with this engine? Mainly I'm worried about the cam chain as I've been reading that there have been issues. My previous car was a 2003 fiesta 1.3 duratech, that was chain driven also and was a lovely engine. I really like the Fabia but worry that I may have made a bad decision. Any help, advice or reassurances would be greatly welcome and much appreciated. All the best everyone.

Welcome.

There should be no issues with a 2013 engine.

I would not worry about it.

Just make sure the correct oil is used at servicing, and maybe best change the spark plugs even if only they have been in for 25,000 miles if the previous service at 4 years does not show them as changed.

?

Have you had a look at the air filter to see if clean, and also that it is a OEM one and someone never fitted something else?

Great to know, that settles my mind. Thanks Offski. I've only had the car a day so I'll check the service schedule when I'm home and will check the filter on the weekend. I got the car from a ford dealer who said they serviced it before I collected it. I suspect they just put new oil in as there is no service stamp. Also the break fluid was changed at third year so I'll need to get that done as well as its every 2 years I think I remember from the schedule. I'll prob just get my own service done for peace of mind.
