Recently had a Airbag Warning light come on my dashboard.

 

Scanned with VCDS and the following error code - 01221 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag: Driver Side (G179). 010 - Open or Short to Plus - MIL ON.

 

Part No - 1K0 909 605 T. Component - Q4 Airbag VW8 020 2300.

 

Been to Skoda and quoted £870 to fix this issue. 

 

Anyone got any advice on this issue? Can buy a 2nd hand unit from Ebay for £25 but will this work?

 

Any help/advice is welcomed.

Think I would be checking the yellow connection to the air bag for corrosion, it's common on the one under the seats,

 

Obviously don't just unplug in case it deploys, I suggest looking on Google for safe working practices, i. e. disconnect battery half an hour before working on the airbag.

Check wires under seat and it’s possible the sensor is in the door so check for broken wires in the rubber bellows between door post and door.
