Replacement radio

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good replacement radio with good sat nav and all the other goodies for my 2010 superb elegance estate ,got Columbus but not very happy with it

thanks

I mentioned earlier this week on another thread. Some people like Xtrons unit. Looks snazzy.

My Columbus still high tech nearly 12 months on. By today's standards can do better. I use Waze. Hate the nav though.

What do you not like about it? There may be things you can do to improve matters.

Ok. I think it's worth your while checking what firmware version is installed on your unit. If the car is on its original firmware and it's a 2010, then it's going to be pretty old and will benefit from an update.

If the hidden test mode menu has been enabled, press and hold the Setup button until it appears and you can find your current version in there. Otherwise find someone with VCDS and scan it.

There are a good few sites online which have the firmware files available to download: you burn this to CD, load it into the unit and let it do its thing. IIRC 5274 is the one-size-fits-all firmware update. A word of caution: depending on your current version and what you're updating to, the firmware update could wipe the maps and any stored music from the hard drive so you may want to ensure you have a current map DVD as well.
