Start stop button fault

Featured Replies

So I am running a S3 Sportline MY17.. the start stop button on my centre console is doing nothing. If it is illuminated orange (which I believe is on), start stop kicks in. If it’s turned off and non illuminated, start stop still kicks in. I just can’t seem to turn it off at all.

i don’t mind start stop, however find it overly sensitive in the S3 sometimes, kicking in from about 3mph and below which isn’t handy in stop crawling trafffic and parking. I don’t want to code and disable it completely. Just wondered if anyone else’s has this issue?

When illuminated, SS should be disabled. Have a look on the infotainment car menu, left hand icon to select “vehicle status” and then there is an icon 1/2 way down left side of screen, which shows a screen that tells you what the SS is doing, whether it’s available etc. This might give a clue as to why it’s not working as expected when you press the SS button.

I don’t want to cause offence here but seeing as others have fell foul in the past...

Are you defo selecting to stop/start button and not the auto-hold one?

Stop/start is to the right of the gear lever and auto-hold is between the gear lever and the roller covered cubby, to the left of the electronic parking brake button.

No offence caused... I’m rather embarrassed now.. I am indeed in the wrong button pressing club and had been trying the auto hold button. Lesson learnt, read the manual! Thank you very much!
