Horrific rattle...

Featured Replies

Any ideas?  My car has a really awful sounding clutch-influenced rattle that alarms people who all then ask if the clutch bearing needs doing.  However, my car is on its third clutch now and when the last one was put in specifically to fix this 'clutch bearing problem', it came to light the clutch bearing was fine after all!  The new clutch and bearing did nothing for the rattle whatsoever.

When the clutch is pressed down, rattle vanishes.

When clutch is up in neutral, rattle is at its worst.

Doesn't seem to affect the driving in any way and has been the same way for aaaaages but I'm convinced one day something will go bang as a result and I'd hate to lose my octavia at a mere 213k miles into our journey together :'(

I presume the fly wheel was also replaced with the clutch?
