Ski Hatch Lever - Caput!

Featured Replies

I thought I’d open the ski hatch so  the kids could keep an eye on the dog whilst we were travelling this w’end.

I pulled the lever and it literally came off in my hand; a proper WTF?! moment!!!  Well I say ‘pulled’ but I don’t think I applied any actual pulling force.

I can’t see any parts which have snapped or where anything could have sheered off the main handle body. There was no clicking or snapping noises.  I’m inclined to think it was ‘fixed’ in place waiting for the first unsuspecting victim.

So this now appears to be my first Superb warranty job.

Without the the ability to open the hatch I thought it best to let the kids travel in the back seat with the dog :)

aye aye aye - u've barely had the car for more than 1 fuel tank and ur already breaking things!!!

lol

sounds like there is an on and off "faulty worker" in the factory that puts these things together.  he/she either does it, or they don't.

and if they don't, all u need to do is sneeze on it before it breaks!!

Story to hear that mate. Unfortunately it seems to be a fairly common problem. There is a thread on here about it. Can't link to it at the moment as I'm on a phone but should be easy enough to find. Good luck with getting it sorted.

This is the threa, there are a few of us this has happened to.

Closer to two weeks and in 280 ownership that is 2.5 tanks of fuel! :tongueout:

I had a similar issue, the Mrs was opening one of the Load area side boxes, and the handle just popped off - nothing broken, so I popped it back into place, and all's been well (so far - cross fingers).

Hope they sort it for you sharpish though Penguin!
