Scout TSI power dip in 2nd gear

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having recently got a 2011 Scout 1.8 TSI, I find that when I change up from 1st to 2nd, there seems to be a drop in power and the front of the car dips and then comes back up again. This problem occurs only going from 1st to 2nd gear.

I am used to driving a much smaller car (a 1.3 hatchback, so a BIG car is a new experience for me) - is this a 'problem', or normal for this model and just something I have to get used to.

So, at the moment I am very gently pressing on the gas when I change up. This does make the car very slow to drive.

Any insight would be gratefully received.

Thanks!

may well be technique   was your previous diesel ?

Could be technique, as you suggest.

The engine noise is very distant, so I find it hard to register the revs.

My last car was a petrol, by the way. Not a sports car but reasonably nippy hatchback.

Very distinct from the Scout !

So, this is not a 'feature' of the 1.8 TSI ?

Thanks,

Dan
